Castor oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the castor seed (Ricinus communis). Castor oil is rich in fatty acids that naturally exist in the human body and are needed for constructing healthy cells, also aiding in the smooth operation of cellular membranes (A well operating cell membrane ensures cell lifetime enhancement, healthy cell separation, shielding against viruses and threatening substances). The main constituent of castor oil (Ricinoleic fatty acid) exerts soothing anti-inflammatory effects. Castor oil is also rich in Oleic and Linoleic acid, natural oils which amongst other health benefits are renowned for boosting skin health and aiding against skin diseases such as dermatitis and eczema. Human skin readily absorbs castor oil because of the low molecular weight of its basic ingredients. This allows fast and direct delivery of nourishments to the skin.

The smooth feeling and quick absorption we feel on each application to the skin or lips is the exact resulting effect of this delivery of goodies. The beneficial effects of castor oil to the skin have been recognised even in the early days of antiquity with its use and trade for medicinal purposes extending from Egypt and north east Africa, to eastern India. It was readily used to treat and heal a broad range of inflicted skin damage or skin disorders like inflammations, lesions, eruptions, burns, sunburns, cuts, abrasions and even in acne healing!

Today it is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry as a base to create pastes, ointments, balms, lipsticks, skin conditioning creams and soaps crayons and make up products. It has also found its place in the food industry, with applications in sweets and candy and generally shaped foodstuffs.

UmpiLumpi offers you castor oil in its purest form as ready mixed cold pressed oil.
